| Workshops and Performance Therapy |
Performance Therapy is an experiential form of therapy that utilizes the creative process of acting and performance. Through the process of rehearsing and performing a play, scene, monologue, or song, participants will have the opportunity to learn about their inner world by creating the character they portray in the performance.
In one on one therapy, you can work with a monologue, a song, or do scene study with me as your scene partner. I will guide and support the creative and therapeutic process to help you make connections to life issues and identify blocks to expression.
Performance therapy groups work as a cast to rehears and perform a specific play. The experience gives participants the opportunity to gain insight into their relationship strengths and challenges and family of origin issues. All of these experiences will be supported and highlighted by group therapy as we process the learning together. The result is a performance of creative expression, an intimate connection with peers, and a deepening of self awareness.
What if your life was your finest performance?
What if you could enhance your personal authority, charisma, and connection with others? Explore these questions in the Applied Creative Transformation (ACT) workshop. We all play many roles in our lives: parent or partner; coach, therapist, or social worker; leader or healer. Some of these roles we choose to play, others are assigned to us. Whatever your role, this much is true: if you don’t know how to play your role, it plays you. You can present your self with greater control, impact and authenticity. In the ACT workshop, you will use the art of acting to enhance your powers of observation and intuition, as well as personal presence and authority But isn’t acting – well – acting? Yes it is. Actors are in the business of expressing the full range of what it means to be human. What you will take away from this workshop are the acting principals and skills that support authenticity, impact, and connection. When you learn to tap into that, you are learning the art of being fully human.
The Applied Creative Transformation (ACT) workshop is designed to enhance your skills as a therapist, coach, and leader through the art of acting. Act 1 focuses on the basic principals of acting and performance, and the science behind it. We will use fun and interesting theatre games and exercises, along with lecture and printed material.
Act 2 focuses on performance. Observe the principals in action, and develop objective thinking about performance.
Act 3 brings it all together. Participants practice their real-life roles using the new skills and awareness.
The next ACT workshop is scheduled for May 11 and 12. Space limited to 8 participants. Also the one day "What's My Motivation" workshop (a sequel to the ACT workshop) is scheduled for April 28 and June 9. email me to receive registration information through my colleague Carlos Venegas of StrausForest, LLC.
“When you’re clear about your motivation and what's at stake, you will be the master of your role instead of being at its mercy.” Arthur Salamon |
